Sensex, Nifty trade flat; Infratel, Sun Pharma stock gain


Equity tips:-
  • Indian shares opened marginally higher on Thursday, however the gains were erased to trade flat led by losses in HDFC, ITC and Kotak Mahindra Bank.
  • Nevertheless, losses were capped, as Airtel, Infosys and Sun Pharma  witnessed buying interest.
  • As of 9:54 AM, Sensex was down by 12 points at 33,575 and the Nifty traded 13 points higher at 10,355.
  • The BSE Mid-cap and BSE Small-cap Index are trading marginally lower at 16,788 and 17,932 respectively .
  • Among the Nifty50 Index, Bharti Infratel was the top gainer, up 2%, followed by Eicher Motors, Sun Pharma, IndusInd Bank and UPL, which gained between 1-0.9% each.
  • Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Lupin and Hero MotoCorp were the other major gainers, whereas Dr.Reddy’s, Asian Paints, Kotak Mahindra and UltraTech were the losers in the Nifty50 Index.
  • On the BSE, Telecom (+0.95%), Metal (+0.65%), and IT (+0.44%) sectors gained, while Banking and Finance (-0.09%) showed weakness.
  • India VIX dropped by 0.65% at 13.94 level.
  • Among the 1,971 stocks being traded, 1,006 advanced, 540 declined and 425 remained unchanged.
  • Elsewhere, other Asian indices opened flat with the Japanese 'Nikkei’ is closed for a holiday and other markets observe muted trade. With the US markets also closed it will all be local flavor as markets react to higher oil prices and affirmation of rate hike in December by the Federal Reserve.
  • Rupee opened higher at 64.81 per U.S. dollar against yesterday's close of 64.93.
  • ICICI Prudential Life, HDFC Standard Life and SBI Life were under pressure, falling 2-4%.

  • Quess Corp stock plunged 6% as Thomas Cook (+5%) is selling some stake in the company.

Asian stocks trade mixed; Nikkei 225 up ~1%
