Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty hovers around 10,150 level, Metal Index down by 2%


Equity tips:-

  • Nifty and Sensex open trade on a lower note on third-day straight, taking the cues of the weak US Markets. The decline Asian Indices and rise of the WPI index to 3.59% in October added to the fall.
     
  • OMCs show appreciation in the early trading hours as HPCL and BPCL gain by 2%.
     
  • On the contrary weak results of Sun Pharma drag the Pharma index down, while Vedanta Ltd drags the metal index by 2%.
     
  • At 9:37 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 32,871 down by 70 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,165 down by 20 points.
     
  • The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down by 0.16% at 16,467 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading lower by 0.38% at 17,472.

  • Some buying seen in Bank and Capital Goods sectors, while basic materials, FMCG, Healthcare, Utilities, Consumer Durables sectors show weakness on the BSE.
  • The India Vix is down by 4.44% at 13.53.
  • Out of 1,952 stocks traded on the NSE, 447 advanced, 1,093 declined, and 412 remained unchanged today.
  • A total of 23 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 18 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
  • Nifty Metal Index slips 2%. NALCO (-3%), JSPL, Hindalco, Vedanta (-3%), Hindustan Copper (-2.5%).
  • Nifty IT Index trade in the green in a subdued market. Infibeam, Tech Mahindra (+2%), TCS (+1%).
  • Lupin’s USFDA warning letter lists repeat observations for Indore and Goa plants. Stock down 1%.
  • Fortis Healthcare looks to buy RHT Heath Trust for a combined enterprise value of approximately Rs 4,650 crore. Stock rises 3%.
  • Laurus Labs gets EIR from USFDA for AP plant. Stock gains 3%.

Axis Bank slumps over 6% post quarterly earning

Equity tips:- Shares of Axis Bank have slumped by over 6% in opening trades after announcing quarterly earning post market hours on Tuesday.  The stock opened at Rs 488 hit an intraday high of Rs 489 and an intraday low of Rs 482. Total traded volumes were approx 0.35mn shares. The quarterly results missed street estimates as NII for the quarter was 4.5% below street estimates of Rs.4741 crore. Also, net profit for the quarter was almost 66% down from street estimates of Rs.1298 crore. NII for the quarter remained flat at Rs.4539 crore vs Rs.4513 crore in previous year corresponding quarter. This was largely due to muted interest income growth to Rs.11235 crore vs Rs.11159 crore in Q2FY18. Asset quality of the bank deteriorated further as GNPA’s for the quarter rose by almost 67% yoy to Rs 27402 crore. Asian stocks trade mixed; Nikkei 225 up ~1%

Asian stock markets were trading mixed on Thursday as investors awaited a slew of economic data from China.
