Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty, Sensex trading lower; SBI gains by 2%


Equity tips:-

  • Domestic share indices shrugged off mixed cues from global markets and inched marginally higher at open, led by gains in shares of banks, and select automobile and FMCG companies. However, gains were limited by a fall in index-heavyweights--L&T and Coal India--after their Jul-Sep earnings. Currently the indices trade in red with Nifty below the 10,300 mark.
  • At 9:42 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 33,249, down by 64 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,289 down by 32 points.
  • The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down by 0.09% at 16,548 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading higher by 0.06% at 17,654.

  • Some buying seen in IT, Bank and Teck sectors, while Industrials, Telecom, Capital Goods, and Oil & Gas sectors show weakness on the BSE.
  • The India Vix is up by 5.93% at 14.27.
  • Out of 1,970 stocks traded on the NSE, 738 advanced, 798 declined, and 434 remained unchanged today.
  • A total of 42 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 14 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
  • New India Assurance settles at Rs 748.90/sh in pre-open trade Vs issue price of Rs 800/sh on BSE.
  • BSE Oil & Gas Index slips over 1%. BPCL, ONGC (-3%), IOC, HPCL (-2%), Oil India (-1%).
  • Idea stock falls 3.5% on tower business sale.
  • L&T unit wins Rs 1,270 Cr order from ONGC. Stock dips 3%.
  • Axis Bank to raise Rs 11,625.8 crore via issue of equity shares and convertible warrants to Bain Capital and other investors. Stock gains 1.5%.
  • ONGC expects first oil from KG basin in 2020 and gas by 2019. Stock down 2%.
  • HSIL approves plan for demerger of retail and building products business. Stock drops 5%.
  • Bank of Maharashtra receives SEBI nod to raise Rs 800 crore by way of QIP. Stock falls 2%.
  • Welspun Enterprises signs agreement with NHAI for expansion of a section of NH-31 at a project cost of Rs 1,161 crore. Stock spurts 3%.
