Sensex, Nifty off day’s low; Equitas, Ujjivan stock drops

Equity benchmark indices started Friday's session on a lower note as the November derivatives series took off on a weak note amid weak global cues. Today’s losses were seen in Infosys, TCS, ITC and Yes Bank.

On the sectoral front, IT, metal, FMCG, realty, auto, financial services, pharma and PSU banks are seeing selling pressure.

The BSE Sensex was trading at 33,529, down 161 points, while the Nifty50 index was trading at 10,068, down 57 points.

The Nifty Bank index is nearly 0.55% lower weighed by Yes Bank which is trading down ~5% as the bank’s net profit was below estimates due to higher provisions, indicating a decline of 3.8% yoy to Rs964.7cr.

Shares of Ujjivan Financial Services and Equitas Holdings fell over 15% on the NSE after these companies informed the exchanges that the Reserve Bank of India told them to comply with the original license conditions.

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap fell 0.31% and 0.40%, respectively.

Volatility index India VIX was up 3.58% to 19.64.

Tata Motors, Titan, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel and Reliance Industries were the top gainers on Nifty50, while Yes Bank, NTPC, Grasim, IOC and Zee were the top losers in today’s trade.

Out of 2,051 stocks traded on the NSE, 649 advanced, 926 declined and 476 remained unchanged today.

A total of two stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 177 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The rupee weakened by 17 paise to 73.44 against the US dollar in early trade Friday, amid increased demand of the American currencies from importers and sustained foreign fund outflows.
